Although J.R. had never coached Nick in a sport at Landon, we reached out to him the summer before heading into his senior year for guidance on managing college soccer offers he had received.

My twin sons graduated Landon in 2025 and while they enjoyed outstanding senior years, the college recruiting process prior to that was anything but smooth for two late bloomers.

J.R. Bordley was an invaluable resource as we engaged with college coaches 

hoping for an opportunity for our boys to play lacrosse at the Division I level while using their athletic ability to gain admittance into a top tier school. It was a narrow list that would fit what we wanted, and we were late in the recruiting calendar as the boys had already played their junior season. As such, J.R.’s connectivity, advocacy, and communication were paramount to our ultimate successful outcome. Due to his longevity in the game as both a player and a coach, he has relationships and connectivity with most college coaches or programs. Because of these connections he could get us real-time information on what schools were truly interested in our sons and where they stood in the pecking order of recruits. J.R.’s relationships were helpful, but only because of his proactive approach and his willingness to pick up the phone or approach coaches at events to advocate for our boys. Lastly, his ability to communicate with us and our boys as well as the boys’ club coach was tremendously helpful due to the speed with which we had to move so late in the process.
